PortFest Art Exhibit 2019
Get ready for the PortFest 2019 Art Exhibit. This year our tent will be filled exclusively with the artwork of six local artists. Each of these “Featured Artists” will have demos and/or activities using their medium, as well as displaying a selection of their work. They will also be available throughout the day to answer any questions regarding their artwork or medium. All works on display are for sale and 50% of the proceeds will benefit HEARTS. Please stop by and join us in celebrating some of the local talent of Port Washington!
*Please note that although PortFest is a rain or shine event, the Art Exhibit will run in a limited capacity if it rains.

Michele Garfield
I am a freelance graphic designer, whose clients include architects, non profit organizations, general contractors and local businesses. And...
I LOVE to paint! I find my greatest inspiration is people: sitting, standing, interacting, doing, being. The shape of the human form within a space is full of creative possibilities. The versatility of oil paint makes it the perfect medium to express the uniqueness of each subject; whether it is a quiet sunlit moment or one full of energy. Each of my paintings informs the next in a different way. I may choose to continue to explore a subject, the effects of a palette of color, or a particular mode of application. Always looking for the next subject to further my artistic journey, I enjoy time in my art studio at The Roslyn School of Painting. For the past 5 years, I have had the honor of serving as the Marketing Chair on HEARTS’ Board of Directors, where I have worked closely with other members of the board to promote this wonderful organization. I am honored to be participating as an Exhibiting Artist at PortFest this year. I am looking forward to sharing my creative process and techniques that I use to create my work. [email protected] |
Diane is the Principal at Diane Luger Design, LLC., a studio specializing in graphic design and photography. Diane’s professional career as Art Director in the book publishing industry enabled her to be exposed to all aspects of creativity. From Illustration to typography and photography. “My love for photography has been a soul fulfilling outlet since my childhood.” In recent years, she has been devoting more time to this passion. Joining the Long Island Center of Photography has helped her to find her voice as a fine art photographer. She has exhibited her work in galleries and enjoys the recognition and accolades from both peers and the public.
“Small World Up Close” is a series she has been working on using architectural size (miniature) people, positioning them within an environment created with ordinary objects, both manmade and natural. Dramatic light and shadow create these otherworldly atmospheres. The mural titled "Painting History" is the winning design for the Port Washington Mural Project sponsored by Residents Forward and Hearts. It will be installed this spring on the wall of the Baltimore Design store on Main Street. 516-578-3702 [email protected] Dianelugerdesign.com |

Marcos Sinconegui was born in Havana, Cuba in 1967. His father, a political prisoner was exiled from Cuba in 1979. The family arrived in Miami, Florida when Marcos was 12 years old.
From a very a young age he used art as a means of expression and was able to find solace in his creations. Always knowing he wanted to be an artist, he excelled in drawing and painting and was frequently recognized and awarded for his art work and creativity both as a student and later as a creative professional.
While attending the School of Visual Arts In New York, he worked as an assistant to Rupert Jasen Smith, who was Andy Warhol’s silkscreen printer. At Rupert Smith’s studio, Marcos mastered the technique of silkscreen printing and worked with Keith Haring, Kenny Scharf, Michael Heizer, Cady Noland and many other notable contemporary artists, producing their limited edition prints and original works of art. This experience shaped and influenced the way Marcos would view and absorb Contemporary American art. He developed a style that was inspired by American Pop Art, combining personal images with newspapers, magazines and other popular culture images.
Marcos’s work has been in numerous shows in Miami, Florida at the Hokin Gallery, the Dorothy Blau Gallery, North Miami Museum, PMNY Gallery in New York City and the Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C., among others. His work is also exhibited in several private collections. For the past twenty years, he has worked as an Art Director at an advertising agency and at various magazines, where he won numerous design and journalism awards.
