Sonnet & Solomon

Sonett and Solomon are a flute and piano/accordion duo performing a wide variety of classical, jazz, soundtrack, folk and new compositions. Solomon Hoffman is a Port Washington native who is heavily involved in the local music scene. He is the founder and curator of Café Music at Dolphin and the longtime conductor of the Port Summer Show. He is an active composer and their program will include a world premiere piece written for PortFest. Caroline Sonett is the principal flutist of the New York Youth Symphony and the Columbia University Orchestra. She recently performed as soloist with the CUO as the winner of their concerto competition.

BackBeat has been playing oldies since 1987 and has performed at hundreds of private parties, corporate events, weddings and local venues. The band specializes in the music of The Beatles, but also plays songs from The Byrds, Rolling Stones, Monkees, Temptations, Animals, BeeGees, Hollies, Searchers, Foundations, Dave Clark Five, Moody Blues, Temptations, Box Tops, Four Tops, Turtles, Rascals, Herman's Hermits, Manfred Mann & Smokey Robinson. In 2000, the band played 3 nights in Liverpool, England at the famed Cavern Club where it all began for The Beatles!

Last Resort

Together since 2010, Last Resort has been performing at many venues in Nassau County- performing both covers and original songs, acoustically and electrically. The band started with Peri Chain and Billy Jack Dalessandro; two neighbors who had grown up together and had been a part of a previous band. After attending the School of Rock in Roslyn, New York, the two met yet another music enthusiast- Chris Leich. With Peri capable of playing guitar, piano, bass and being able to sing and compose, Billy Jack's amazing guitar skills, and Chris's rather impressive drumming and composition skills, they were able to form the band. However, for some time they couldn't think of a name for the band. With their very first gig approaching, the band was forced to pick the name "Last Resort" as their last resort. The name stuck.The band began writing music shortly after. With Peri as the lyricist, songs such as "Another Day" and "On Their Own" were composed and performed. In the summer of 2011, bassist and vocalist Ryan Carmody, a friend of Chris's, joined the group. With this all county singer and theatrical enthusiast, the band was able to broaden their horizons with the addition of songs with tenor and bass male singers and, most importantly, harmonies; however, even with Ryan's additional talent, the band didn't seem quite complete. Soon, though, it was. In 2012, Claudia Kolanovic, a friend and peer of Ryan's, joined the group- bringing her piano, composition, and profound singing skills to the band. With the band completed, the performing and composing has continued; and with a such a multi-talented line-up, the band is working on their first album which will portray this great journey as a musical group- hoping to be released in 2013- and are looking forward to expanding their venue opportunities and their artistry as musicians.
